About Us

Energy Doorways was established by Catrien Ross, a long-time expert on Japan whose mystical renascence transformed her personal and professional life.

Compelled to dissolve her corporation and withdraw from writing and university teaching, Catrien Ross has spent 15 years in the mountains of central Japan, deepening the self-realization of energy she calls hikari no uzu (light vortex in Japanese).

Now as Energy Doorways founder and president, Catrien Ross teaches and writes about spirituality, personal growth, Japanese society, and lifestyle healing through energy medicine and reconnecting with natural energy wisdom.

Kohdoh is an Oriental Medicine specialist with more than 35 years experience in Japanese Kampo and jujutsu adjustment as well as in applied kinesiology and chiropractic. He is board-certified in acupuncture, a licensed Soto Zen Master Priest, and an award-winning short story writer.

Kohdoh is Energy Doorways Executive Director and Editor-in-Chief.

Energy Doorways has a wise and compassionate Senior Adviser in Johann G. Laetz, an Arizona State University professor emeritus with a Stanford University Ph.D. in modern European languages. Eight decades young, this extraordinary human being divides his time between Arizona and Japan.

Energy Doorways owns a spacious building facing Mount Fuji to the south and Lake Kawaguchi, the center of the five lakes, to the north. At this vortex of Japan’s spiritual energy, amidst ancient, sacred sites, we publish books and projects, present international workshops and seminars, develop onsite and online courses, and embrace natural energy wisdom. Deep in the mountains we cherish a 300-year-old Japanese minka that serves as an adjunct teaching center and retreat.

Energy Doorways is also home to Energy Medicine Japan and our Hikari no Uzu™ energy medicine school and private practice, established in 2008 by Kohdoh and Catrien Ross.

In 2009 Energy Doorways published a pioneering book in Japanese that demonstrates how your own energy can simply and joyfully be energy medicine to improve and empower your life ( Books).
